What is included

One team does the survey, the design, the installation and the paperwork.

  • A home survey. Heat loss room by room, your radiators, insulation and hot water, so the system is sized for your house, not a typical one.
  • The design and a written quote. The outdoor unit, the hot water cylinder, any radiators that need changing, and where everything goes.
  • Installation by HRB's own engineers. Pipework, electrics, commissioning and a tidy site when we leave.
  • Handover and your MCS certificate. We show you the controls, and your installation is registered with MCS.
  • Aftercare. The same team to call if you have a question once it is running.

How it works

Three steps from this page to a running heat pump.

  1. Free home survey

Send the form or call. We book a time, and an engineer comes to measure the heat loss and look at your radiators, hot water and the space for the outdoor unit.

  2. Design and quote

You get a written quote with the system drawn out: what is included, the price, and the dates. Take your time with it. There is no obligation.

  3. Installation and handover

HRB's engineers fit and commission the system, show you the controls and register the installation with MCS. Then the same team is at the end of the phone.

Questions people ask at the survey

Heat pump questions, answered plainly.

A brick house where HRB have worked
Does an air source heat pump work in a cold winter?

Yes. It takes heat from the outside air and keeps working below freezing. The survey sizes the system for the coldest days your home sees, which is why we measure the house rather than guess from its size.

Will I need new radiators?

Sometimes. A heat pump runs at a lower flow temperature than a gas or oil boiler, so some rooms need a larger radiator to stay as warm. The survey checks every radiator and the quote lists any that need changing, so there are no surprises on the day.

Is VAT charged on a heat pump?

No. 0% VAT applies to heat pumps fitted in homes until 31 March 2027.

Who does the work?

HRB's own engineers. HRB Mechanical Services is an MCS certified installer for air source heat pumps, solar PV and battery storage (certificate NAP-72806) and a member of the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC).

How long does the installation take?

It depends on the house, the cylinder and how many radiators change. Your quote gives the dates for your installation, and we agree them with you before anything is booked.

What happens after I send the form?

Someone from the St Neots office calls you back in office hours to arrange the free survey. You are not committing to anything by asking.
